Bio
Bar Refaeli is the daughter of a former Israeli model Tzipi Levin. She was raised with her three brothers in Hod Hasharon, 20 minutes from Tel Aviv. Bar had appeared in a commercial already at 8 months old, and through her childhood she did a few more commercials and small roles on TV, movies and children’s videotapes.
Refaeli’s rise to fame started at the beginning of the Millennium, when she won Best Model in Israel between 2000-2002, while modeling for the biggest fashion labels in the country, like Castro, Pilpel and Fox. In 2005 she renewed her acting career in the Hebrew soap ‘Pick Up’ on the Israeli Channel 10. Shortly after that she began receiving international recognition, appearing in the French ‘Elle’ magazine and modeling lingerie for Victoria’s Secret. At the same time she was drawing more attention as she started seeing Leonardo DiCaprio, whom she dated until 2011.
Her appearance on the 2009 cover of ‘Sports Illustrated – Swimsuit Edition’ officially made Bar a supermodel. A year later she was chosen by ‘Elle’ as one of the 25 under 25 most influential women in the world, and lately she was ranked #6 on the Sexiest Women Alive chart by men’s magazine Maxim.
Recently, Refaeli and Dudi Balsar, an attorney and former model, set up an E-commerce company called Undeez that will sell designer underwear. The company has gone online in November 2011.
