Ayelet hits the red carpet in Santa Barbara
The 2012 Santa Barbara International Film Festival kicked off last night with the opening night world premiere of “Darling Companion”, upcoming motion picture starring Diane Keaton, Kevin Klein and Israel’s very own Ayelet Zurer. All hit the red carpet for the special event that started the festival, which has been going annually since 1985.
Shot last year in Park City, Utah, the movie centers around a family dog that gets lost, which sets all main characters into a frenzy search, led by Zurer’s character, who appears to have a special sixth sense that picks up random premonitions regarding the canine’s whereabouts. “I play Carmen, who is kind of clairvoyance and she’s a girl who believes that through animals she can fix everyone up and get them all back together”, Ayelet Zurer says exclusively to AbbaNibi on the festival red carpet, “It’s a very cute and funny role for me”.
How was it like to work on the set with such an impressive cast that also includes established actress Dianne Wiest and Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss?
“All and all it was a lot of fun, we had an amazing location, we shot it last fall in Park City, but mainly it was a pleasure to work with the fellow cast members and our director (Lawrence Kasdan “Body Heat”, “Grand Canyon”, “The Big Chill”). We had some pretty amazing table readings, where I truly got to see each actor’s work, such a wonderful well written script”.
It is great to see you starring in a movie that is getting the honor of opening this festival. Any thoughts of the other great honor Israel got this week with “Footnote”?
“Oh wow, I wish (Joseph Cedar) a lot of luck and especially to my good dear friend Lior Ashkenazi (who stars in “Footnote”), i love him dearly and I wish them all good luck”.
“Darling Companion” will hit theaters across the US on April 20, while Zurer’s next big film project will be “Man Of Steel”, due out in 2013, where she will play none other than Suparman’s mother. AbbaNibi will keep watching.
