Israeli Actress Ayelet Zurer Cast as Superman’s Mother in the New Blockbuster
Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer is currently in Vancouver, filming the upcoming Superman blockbuster, ‘Man of Steel.’ Zurer is mostly known for her role opposite Tom Hanks in ‘Angels and Demons,’ and in Steven Spielberg’s ‘Munich.’ She will play the role of Lara Lor-Van in the film, which also stars British actor Henry Cavill as the Krypton-born superhero.
Zurer has replaced Julia Ormond, who left the production for unknown reasons, and will co-star in the movie alongside Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Russell Crowe as Superman’s father Jor-El, with other cast members including Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon and Diane Lane. ‘I’m very happy and excited,’ Zurer told the Israeli media, ‘I still can’t elaborate about the role I’ll be playing.’
‘Man Of Steel’, which is scheduled for a 2013 release, is directed by Watchmen’s Zack Snyder, and sees “Tudors” star Cavill taking over the role previously made famous on the big screen by Christopher Reeve.
