Israeli Restaurant on Wine Spectator’s List of Top Restaurants in the World
Mazel Tov to Chloelys Restaurant! This restaurant in Ramat Gan (near Tel Aviv) is the only Israeli restaurant that has entered the acclaimed Wine Spectator magazine’s annual list of Restaurants that Wine Lovers Need To Know. Chloelys received a grade that is called ‘Award of Excellence,’ that is given for lists that offer well chosen selections of quality producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style.
Chloelys Restaurant, located on 16 Abba Hillel Rd in Ramat Gan is large, spacious, and is characterized by a stylished décor and a relaxed atmosphere. Their excellent menu includes, but is not limited to, a variety of fish and seafood dishes created by the always innovative chef Victor Gloger.
The full list, which is published in the August 2012 issue of Wine Spectator, includes mostly restaurants from all across the USA, but also from Japan, Greece, France, Italy and more. “Pointing wine lovers to restaurants that offer exciting wine lists is the purpose of our Restaurant Awards program,” write the magazine editors Marvin R. Shanken and Thomas Matthews.
Let’s hope that next year we’ll also see an Israeli wine on the magazine’s Best Wines list, and according to the Jewish Journal of San Diego, there’s hope: “There are a lot of people [in Israel] who are really interested in wine, really passionate about wine and winemaking,” says Ari Erle, vintner and Israel-based international wine consultant, who’s on a mission to bring Israeli wine to the world. “They either grow grapes or know someone who grows really great grapes, and they’re trying to develop a vineyard or a winery.”
