Television
First and foremost, Abbanibi has learned that the most watched TV show in Israel this year was Master Chef, the Israeli adaptation of the famous American reality TV show, which was the highest rated show week after week during 2011.
Music
In music, like it was all over the world, also in Israel it was the year of the British female vocalist Adele, who released her 2nd album this year, ’21′ which was also the biggest album in America this year. Adele, who was in progressing negotiations to perform in Israel during 2011, had to cancel all of her shows due to a throat injury, but it didn’t stop her from releasing the single ‘Someone Like You’ which became probably the biggest hit in Israel this year.
We brought you yearly charts from Israel, which represent the Israeli people’s taste in international music this year. The first one is The Galgalatz Chart, the military radio station which is the most listened-to radio station in Israel. More than half a million voters chose their favorite song of the year. Movies
It wasn’t so hard to guess this year’s biggest blockbuster in Israel. After 5 weeks at the top of the weekly blockbuster chart and nearly a million movie tickets sold, we can estimate that 1 out of 7 Israelis saw The Smurfs this year. There’s nothing you can do, Israelis LOVE the Smurfs (maybe it’s the blue-and-white thing). ‘The Hangover Part II’ is the biggest comedy this year in Israel, followed by ‘Fast Five,’ starring the Israeli actress Gal Gadot.

Internet / Music
Finally, we also received data from YouTube this week, stating the most watched music video on YouTube in 2011. Interestingly enough there’s only one international video, which is #1 (Jennifer Lopez), followed by 4 Hebrew videos, sung by Mediterranean (“Mizrachi”) male singers.
FYI, the YouTube chart is the only one to contain Hebrew music because it is data that was gathered outside Israel. For data within the country, the year of Hebrew music concludes with the end of the Hebrew year, and is given at Rosh Hashana.
